Can I get a refund if I cancel insurance during policy period?
Yes. However, to get refund you need to show the insurance company that have got insurance from some other company or that the registration certificate for your vehicle has been canceled by the Regional Transport Office. After the cancellation of the policy the balance of the premium amount is given back to you. Kindly note you can get the refund only if you have not claimed during the policy period.
Can I get some benefit if I make no claim in a year?
Yes. Insurance companies provide some benefits if you make no claim in a year. You can get a discount in the premium during policy renewal called a No Claims Bonus. Some companies also provide this discount on the Own Damage part of the premium up to a maximum of 50%.
Can car insurance policy be renewed online?
You can renew your policy online, provided it is renewed between the period starting two months before expiry and six days after expiry of the previous policy.
Is the premium of the policy affected by the place of residence?
Yes. According to the Indian Motor Tariff Act, Indian cities are categorized into specific zones, with each zone having a different rating factor for premiums. Thus, the premium charged from you depends on the city of car registration, and it is not influenced by the place where the car is used or where the car insurance policy is renewed.
Are handicapped people provided discount in car insurance policy?
Yes. As of now a discount of 50% is provided to them on the Own Damage premium. However, it is applicable only if the vehicle has been modified for use. Insurance companies also provide discount to institutions who are engaged in the service of the handicapped.
